Are there any prerequisites?
Because of the fast-paced nature of the course, it is highly recommended that course participants have at least one year of experience working with ICD-9, and one year of experience working in a billing-related, administrative, or clinical position.

However, the course starts with coding fundamentals and does not assume that participants have any particular background or experience. This course is taught on a basic to intermediate level.

How long does the course last?

The online course lasts 4 weeks, with continuing online access to content for six additional weeks. If you do not require instruction on ICD-10-PCS (procedure codes), you may choose to register only for Days 1-3 of the live course (ICD-10-CM). How does the Certified Coder Boot Camp®-ICD-10 Version Online work?

You'll receive the same content and instruction that you would experience at our classroom-based nationally-recognized Boot Camps. Here's how it works:

  • Four Weeks of Video InstructionYou'll view video sessions and complete course work on a weekly basis prior to instructor office hours. The course covers the same material now offered in our live intensive five-day classroom format.
  • Custom-Designed Course Materials You'll receive your Certified Coder Boot Camp materials binder with outlines for each topic and practice exercises.
  • Interactive Learning Course participants work more than 500 coding exercises including numerous operative reports, and instructors review the answers in subsequent video sessions. Participants also take a 150-question practice CPC exam.
  • 24-hour Ongoing AccessVideo instruction is available any time of day. You choose the time that works for you. The online portal location for your class sessions and materials will continue to be accessible to you for 6 additional weeks once your class has ended.
  • Live Interaction with Experts and Your PeersClass size is limited to ensure individual attention, and you'll be able to ask questions and get guidance from our instructors in weekly live "office hour" calls. Students can also interact with their classmates through the live chat room.

How intense is the course compared to the more traditional full semester courses?

The Certified Coder Boot Camp®-ICD-10 Version is a comprehensive and focused immersion course. We are covering a full semester of material in four weeks for the online version.

What if I need to cancel or transfer my registration?

Cancellation Policy:

  • All cancellations must be made in writing.
  • Cancellations received within 3 days of the date HCPro, Inc. receives the registration are eligible for a full refund.
  • Written cancellations received between 4 days after the date HCPro, Inc. receives the registration and 15 days prior to first day of class are eligible for a refund, less a $200 cancellation fee.
  • Written cancellations received 14 days prior to the first day of class are not eligible for a refund, but are eligible for payment transfer (credit) to another HCPro ICD-10 Basics Boot Camp® or Medicare Boot Camp® (less a $200 transfer fee). The credit is valid for up to 6 months from date of the cancelled class.
  • Participant(s) who do not cancel in writing will be considered as "no shows" and will not be eligible for refunds/credits.

Do I need to bring my own coding manuals to class?

Required Manuals
